Meet SARAH:
Where were you born: Des Moines, Iowa
Favorite Play/Musical: “The Piano Lesson” by August Wilson, and specifically the production that Pyramid Theatre Company did in 2023. Everything from the story, performances, lighting, sound, stage, completely blew me away!
First Play/Musical: The first play I ever saw was A Love Offering by Pyramid Theatre Company, and the first Musical was The Lion King! After the musical I was singing Endless Night for 2 years straight and no one could make me stop.
Current non-Pyramid related Project: Currently my non-Pyramid related projects are marketing services for my other clients. I run a business called Studio Delta Designs here in Des Moines.
What does Pyramid mean to you: Pyramid opened my eyes to a whole new world of art I didn’t know existed. As a child it would’ve changed my life to see some of the shows Pyramid has produced! To me, Pyramid is a catalyst for anyone in the Black Iowan Community to pursue their passion in the theatre and art world, because this organization not only presents Black art and artists, but welcomes all of us into this space and makes us feel like we belong. There have been many shows Pyramid produced with actors who had never been on stage before and still gave a phenomenal performance. Pyramid shows all of us that we matter, our voices and stories matter, and that anything is possible at any age when it comes to pursuing your dreams and passions.
