Aaron Smith (August Wilson) is the father of five, and has been married to his wife Jennifer for 22 years. He graduated from Grand View University, with a degree in Creative Performing Arts. Over the years, Aaron has participated in several productions, with Grand View, Des Moines Playhouse, StageWest and several other local theatre companies. He is also the lead singer in the all educator funk band called, Faculty Lounge. Some of his most notable roles are: Little Shop of Horrors (Plant), A Raisin in the Sun (Walter Lee Younger), The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (Aslan), Ragtime (Coalhouse Walker), MountainTop (Martin Luther King Jr) in which he received a Cloris Award Nomination, Fences (Troy Maxson) winning the Broadway World Award for Best Actor in a Play, and A Soldiers Play (Sgt. Vernon Waters) becoming the 2016 Cloris Award Winner for Best Male Actor in a Play. Aaron is very proud to be an Artistic Associate with Pyramid and is honored to be reprising his role as August Wilson in How I Learned What I Learned as performed in Iowa City with Riverside Theater Company/Pyramid Theatre Company.
