Lisa B. Thompson (Playwright)

Lisa B. Thompson is a playwright, artist, professor and author. She is the author of three books, “Beyond The Black Lady: Sexuality and the New African American Middle Class”, “Single Black Female”, and “Underground, Monroe, and The Mamalogues: Three Plays.”

Thompson’s plays explore African American history and culture through the lens of the middle class, and have been produced Off-Broadway, throughout the US, and internationally.

Although her play showcases oppression, mistreatment and suffering, there is also an underlying resilience and beauty Thompson hopes shines through.
