Alea Hoof (Josephine Berry)

Alea Hoof (Josephine Berry) is from Des Moines, Iowa and comes from a family of five.  She is currently a college student at Mount Mercy University and she is double majoring in Communications and Sociology. She has many creative outlets which include crocheting hats, styling clothing pieces, and braiding many hairstyles. She was excited to be a part of this production as it allows her to play a role in telling Black stories and uplift prevalent issues and experiences in the Black community. While this is her first play, Alea sees this as an opportunity to step out of her comfort zone. She also sees this as a chance to portray a character for young Black girls to see themselves in and not only feel understood, but empowered as well.
